Mehlman draws from the vast experience gained from navigating the waters of public policy and politics as RNC chairman, Bush-Cheney 04 campaign manager, White House political director and on Capitol Hill to help clients solve problems at the nexus of business, politics and policy. Mehlman represents clients facing challenges in the legislative, regulatory, corporate and public relations arenas at the international, federal and state levels. Mehlman served as the 62nd chairman of the Republican National Committee, shattering fundraising records and developing transformative new media technologies to target voters and reach the public. From 2003 to 2004 Mehlman was campaign manager for Bush-Cheney 04. Mehlman also served as the campaign's leading national spokesman and was named Campaign Manager of the Year by the American Association of Political Consultants. Mehlman was White House political director during President Bush's first term. These experiences, along with his work as national field director for President Bush's first campaign, as chief of staff to Congresswoman Kay Granger and as legislative director to Congressman Lamar Smith, have provided Mehlman with close relationships with members of Congress, the administration, state and local officials and community leaders – in Washington, D.C., and across the nation. Mehlman received his BA from Franklin and Marshall College and his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He began his legal career as an associate in Akin Gump's Washington, D.C., office, where he practiced environmental law for three years before entering politics. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland Bars. Mehlman is a trustee of Franklin and Marshall College and serves on the executive leadership cabinet of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial Foundation and on the board of the Republican Jewish Coalition.
